So I got the chance to go on an adventure to Florida. Before going I spent 3 days just Lincoln and I since Dan and Leslie had to get to Florida before us for work. It was fun being with him all the time. He is so well mannered and hilarious! I can't believe that this was his first time being away from his parents because he didn't cry for them once. He is only three and he just got it that they were in a different state and that he wouldn't see them til we went to meet them. I am such a scaredy cat though. Dan's house is about 30 years old and it is SO noisy at night. I could have sworn that people were breaking it and doing who knows what. I would just sit in my bed trying to get myself to not be scared. At about the time that I had totally freaked myself out, Lincoln came down needing a new sippy. I was SO glad. I had him hop into my bed and protect me for the rest of the night. For some reason, all three nights right before I was about to hop into bed, he would come down and save me from all the scary monsters. So funny that our brains can be calmed by the simplest things. Kinda funny that a three year old is all I need to feel protected.
We got to Florida and I was so excited to see all of the amusement parks even though I knew that I wasn't going to go to any of them. I just liked that I was so close. We went to our condo in Daytona Beach aka White trash town. We stayed at a beautiful condo on the beach that had incredible sunsets everynight. The condo had a mini golf coarse that Lincoln LOVED. He wanted to play it all the time. Today (5 days later) he said to me in the car."Aunt Lizzie...me want to go to one of our other houses. Me want to go back to our Florida house so that me can play golf." So cute.
The highlight of the trip was our 5k that Dan and I ran. We decided since there was nothing to do in Daytona Beach that we would go down to the racetrack. We found out that two days later there would be a 5k so we signed up. I hadn't brought any running shoes with me so we had to go shopping. We drove to Orlando and went shopping at the best outlet store I have ever been to. it was like heaven! I found these reall cute pink and red shoes in the Nike store and tried them on and they were great. I went up to pay for them and the lady asked me, "what size were you hoping these were? They are in the wrong box. These are childrens size." I was so shocked. But it was great because they were $10 cheaper because they were kids. Now I know to shop in a childrens 6 instead of a 8 womans. Now I was ready to run! The day of the race started really early in the morning. We left at 6 to get there are 7. There were a whole bunch of people already there. We saw a man in his racing Budwiser jacket, total red neck, and we walked behind him raight as he said to his kid, "Billy you get up here before I put my foot in your butt!" Dan and I laughed so hard and we knew right then that it was going to be a great day. The night before Dan and I had made these awesome box cars to hold as we ran around the track. We figured that it was our first time on a Nascar track so we might as well feel as if we are racing a car around it. We were the only ones that were smart enough to do so. Before the race we took pics of us on the finish line then got ready to run. Dan decided last minute that he wanted to see how well he could do so he ditched his car(lame idea). I ran the whole way around the 2.8 mile racetrack holding up my little pink car. It was a good incentive because I wasn't just another runner. People noticed me and cheered me on so I couldn't let them down by just stopping to walk. So I was able to jog the whole way and finish with a time of 33.12 minutes. It felt great. I am still sore from it but I am glad to know that I can do it. I love being spontaneous! Who would ever think that I would run a 5k on a racetrack? Not me!
We decided that instead of spending the $78 to go to Disney World with kids that are too young to remember it, that we would go to Disney Downtown then go shopping. It was a great idea. This way we were able to buy things that we could take home with us and still get a taste of Disney. I love being cheap!
On the flight home I was SO tired that I put on Toy Story for Lincoln then fell asleep on my tray table. I woke up to someone poking me. it was the lady sitting next to me. Lincoln had followed my example and fallen asleep too but instead of just sitting there sleeping, he was doing the head bob right into the metal armrest. Wow...what a great nanny I am. It sure was a fun trip! Thanks Dan and Leslie!!!
